About Us
The Central Manitoulin Historical Society is a group of about 20 volunteers who operate the Pioneer Museum in the Municipality of Central Manitoulin.
The objective of the society is to preserve artifacts and history of pioneer life in Central Manitoulin relative to farming, fishing and lumbering. The time period displayed is from the arrival of the pioneers to the end of the oxen/horse-drawn era. The Pioneer Museum consists of the Welcome Center, which houses displays and artifacts from Central Manitoulin, as well as four outbuildings: a pioneer log cabin, blacksmith shop, log barn and frame barn. |
